Capstone as a Lens for Mapping Technological Trends in IndustryResumo Capstone projects serve as culminating experiences in engineering and computer science education, providing students with opportunities to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges. This study analyzes 475 Capstone industry-sponsored project proposals submitted by companies to the Engineering and Computer Science programs from 2018 to 2025. The proposals were categorized into 16 technological areas to map evolving corporate interests and emerging trends, besides an open field for other interests. Results reveal sustained demand in key fields such as Information Systems, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Embedded Systems, reflecting broader industry shifts and technological priorities. This longitudinal mapping provides valuable insights for academic institutions aiming to align their curricula with industry trends and better prepare students for future workforce demands. |
